OBS Stream Dock ("the plugin") is an open-source script for OBS Studio. It runs entirely on your own computer. The author does not operate any server for it and does not receive, collect or store any of your data.
What the plugin accesses
When you log in, you grant the plugin access to your accounts through the official login pages of Twitch and Google:
- Twitch (scopes
channel:manage:broadcast, user:write:chat, user:read:emotesand the moderation scopesmoderator:manage:chat_messages,moderator:manage:banned_users,moderator:manage:chat_settings,moderator:manage:warnings,moderator:manage:shoutouts,moderator:manage:shield_mode): your user name and ID, your channel's current title and category, the permission to change title and category, the permission to send chat messages in your name when you use the chat dock, and the list of Twitch emotes you are allowed to use (including the names of the channels they belong to), for the emote picker in the chat dock, and the permission to moderate your own channel's chat when you use the mod tools: delete messages, time out, ban and unban users, warn users, send shoutouts, change chat modes and Shield Mode, and look up users by name for slash commands. When you open a user card, the plugin reads that user's public Twitch profile (name, profile picture, account creation date, partner/affiliate status) and the chat badge images. It also searches Twitch categories when you type in the category field. Your channel's public chat is read anonymously, without your login. - YouTube (scope
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube): your channel name and ID, your live broadcasts (title, description, status, scheduled time), the permission to change the title and description of these broadcasts, the live chat of your current broadcast (messages, author names and channel IDs, Super Chats and similar events), the permission to send chat messages in your name when you use the chat dock, and the permission to delete chat messages and to time out, ban and unban users in your live chat when you use the mod tools.
The plugin only uses this access to show and update your stream title, category and description when you click Apply, to apply a pending title to your YouTube broadcast once it is live, to show your live chat in the chat dock, to send the chat messages you type there, and to carry out the moderation actions you choose there. It does not read or change anything else. Chat messages are only kept in memory while OBS runs; they are not written to disk.
Emote services
To show custom emotes in the chat dock, the plugin requests the emote lists of your channel from 7TV, BetterTTV and FrankerFaceZ, using your public Twitch channel ID, and loads the emote images from their servers and from Twitch. These requests go directly from your computer to those services and are subject to their privacy policies.
Where your data is stored
- Login tokens, a pending YouTube title and, for YouTube bans made from the dock, the ban ID with the banned user's channel ID and name (YouTube needs the ban ID to lift a ban) are stored in plain files in the plugin's
datafolder on your computer. - Nothing is sent anywhere except directly from your computer to the Twitch and Google/YouTube APIs and, for emotes, to 7TV, BetterTTV and FrankerFaceZ.
- The plugin contains no analytics, tracking or telemetry.
Sharing
Your data is not sold, shared with or transferred to anyone. It never leaves your computer except for the requests to Twitch, Google and the emote services described above.
Google API Services
The plugin's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. YouTube data is accessed via the YouTube API Services; see also the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
Removing access and data
- Click log out in the dock. This revokes the token and deletes the local token file.
- You can also revoke access at any time in your Google account settings and in your Twitch connections.
- Deleting the plugin folder removes all data it has stored.
